Okay, so the guy's slightly wacko. Sam wonders if he's always like this, or if he's just snapped from everything they've all been through; to be honest, he wouldn't blame anyone for the latter.

"Too many independent variables," he offers with a shrug. He might not be as much of a nerd, but he spent enough time in a lab in college to know these things - not to mention the time spent refining the design on his second set of wings. "Especially 'cause you don't know the parents, if they even have parents." But surely they have parents. They didn't just appear out of nowhere.
