It's terrible, yeah, but it's a lot harder to be upset about the prospect when your world was pretty much already destroyed before weird monster-shadows came along.]
Maybe you oughta head to higher ground for a bit then. Or just go straight down to the shore, if grieving by completely surrounding yourself by what you're missing is more your style.
