Atvus made it his duty to keep the cavern safe, though the magic of the Great Beasts did much of the work for him. He watched Scions come and go with eggs and hatchlings, making their treks through Nuren's warm and pulsing heart. Many days prior he had wondered how it must feel to share a bond with something so closely. that was when the first group of Scions aside from the two he had come to know had appeared. The thought occurred to him again when eggs began appearing in the cavern again. Now scions were appearing again.

The cloaked and hooded gargoyle-touched man approached one of the scions carefully. He kept close to the wall and crouched a small way away from the circle of ruins, his face shrouded in darkness, but his voice warm and gentle.

"What a lovely creature you have in your company."
