Well... from what I've gathered, a scion is a sort of guardian of the land, and a protector. Partnering with a dragon, they're to work with one another and other scions to preserve the balance of this world, magically, physically or socially in whatever they can provide. I think by just existing we're already aiding with bringing magical integrity, but otherwise I'm not sure. I'd assume trying to prevent whatever ruined our homes from coming here would be part of it.
